New York GOP gubernatorial nominee Bruce Blakeman drew sharp bipartisan criticism after invoking Holocaust imagery to attack former New York City Comptroller Brad Lander. Speaking at a campaign event, Blakeman, who is Jewish, stated that Lander, who is also Jewish, “would be a camp guard in the concentration camp if he could.” Lander’s campaign quickly responded to the remarks, calling them an unacceptable escalation in political rhetoric, while several state lawmakers called on Blakeman to apologize.
