Rockland Bakery in Nanuet, New York, has officially broken the record for the world’s largest croissant in honor of the United States’ 250th anniversary.
Rockland County’s Department of Consumer Protection, Weights and Measures Division, recently announced that the croissant established a new world record, surpassing the previous mark set in Germany.

The croissant was baked Aug. 24 by Rockland Bakery head baker Sean McConnell and the team at New York City restaurant Serendipity3 for content creator The Mannii Show. It measured 106.05 centimeters, or 41.75 inches, in length.
The county department said the croissant surpassed the previous German record by 21.05 centimeters, or 8.29 inches. It also marked the first time the record-holder croissant measured more than 1 meter long.
How did Rockland Bakery make the world’s largest croissant?
The Mannii Show, whose real name is Manuel Jesus Santamaria, created the challenge, dubbed “Operation Flaky Freedom,” to bring the record from Germany to the United States for the country’s 250th anniversary.
“America turns 250 once, and you can’t show up empty-handed,” Mannii said. “Americans love winning and oversized food portions, so when I saw the Germans held the record for the biggest croissant, I immediately knew it was my job to bring that home to America, where a croissant record belongs.”
McConnell and the chefs at Serendipity3 used traditional ingredients and baking methods. Although croissants originated in France, Rockland Bakery followed the protocols established by Rekord-Institut für Deutschland, the organization that certified the German record.
Before Germany set the record in February 2026, Australia had held the title for a year, beginning in January 2025.
“Sean cooked up nearly 42 inches of laminated greatness. Joe and Serendipity3 kept the mission on course from idea to world record,” Mannii said. “I’m proud of this team, proud of this country, and proud to use imperial measurements.”
